1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Birthday Mates ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What Birthday Mates Is

Birthday Mates is a monthly community voting contest and event platform. Users are assigned to Group A or Group B based on their birthday, vote for their group, and can purchase tickets to attend in-person hangout events in supported cities.

3. Eligibility

You must provide accurate registration information, including a real birthday, which determines your group assignment. Group assignment is final for each account and cannot be changed by request.

4. Voting

• Each user receives free votes periodically (e.g. through daily check-in or registration bonuses) and may purchase additional votes using their wallet balance.
• Votes are non-refundable once cast.
• The platform may use simulated activity to keep the experience engaging, particularly in early months with limited real participation. Winners are always determined by genuine human votes only — simulated activity never decides who wins.
• We reserve the right to investigate and void votes obtained through fraud, automation, or abuse of the platform.

5. Wallet & Payments

• Wallet top-ups are processed via Paystack. Birthday Mates does not store your card details.
• Wallet funds may be used to purchase extra votes or event tickets.
• Wallet balances are non-transferable between accounts and are not redeemable for cash except at our discretion.

6. Tickets & Events

• Ticket prices may vary based on early-bird, regular, or last-minute pricing windows, and may be capped by venue capacity.
• Tickets are tied to a specific event date and are non-transferable to a different month's event.
• Refund requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
• Birthday Mates reserves the right to reschedule or cancel an event due to circumstances beyond our control, with affected ticket holders notified and offered a reasonable resolution.

7. User-Generated Content

You are responsible for any profile photo, birthday message ("shoutout"), or other content you upload. Content must not be illegal, abusive, sexually explicit, or infringe on anyone else's rights. We reserve the right to remove any content, and suspend or terminate accounts, at our discretion.

8. Third-Party Sponsors

Birthday Mates may partner with third-party sponsors (such as Linksvert) who offer rewards or services to eligible users. Your relationship with any such sponsor, including registration and use of their services, is governed by that sponsor's own terms — Birthday Mates is not responsible for third-party sponsor services.

9. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, fraudulent activity, or abusive behavior toward other users or staff.

10. Limitation of Liability

Birthday Mates is provided "as is." We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
